Elements for Life make an award winning range of products, all free from dairy, gluten, soya & refined sugars. We worked with EFL working towards producing a bold and organic packaging design that retained it’s brand values and allowed for adaptations into various product formats. We created a playful set of packaging designs for their hot chocolate range.
The brief
In a nutshell Elements for Life make an award winning range of products, all free from dairy, gluten, soya and refined sugars. They had produced their packaging for a while and wanted to create something that was more on brand and more inspiring as a design. The new design was to be produced onto a fully compostable pack.
Elements for life use only the best ingredients sourced as closely from nature as possible. The packaging was to take on the personality of the brand and be organic in nature celebrating the cacao bean as a focus.
The idea
For the packaging we made a start working towards producing a bold yet organic design that retained it’s brand values and would allow for adaptations into various product formats. With their true to nature ingredients and beautiful flavours their products contain raw chocolate and are sweetened with coconut blossom. The concepts began with research into the nature of the raw chocolate itself and its properties. This led the designs down a pathway that wasn’t hitting the mark with the lighter than life owners. We began by loosening up the typography whilst retaining and bringing in the heart of the letter e within their logo and playing freely with organic and wild illustrations.
Challenge 1
Create a range of packaging designs that build on the brand and communicate effectively the organic and raw nature of the brand that both inspire as well as evoke the personality of the owners.
Challenge 2
Translate the designs into the varying flavours ensuring they flow as a set of products and have effective colour ways.
Challenge 3
Build on the front designs and create a set of back of pack illustrations that create space for the key information. Working with the printer we helped become a support for the project going forward due to the compostable packaging format.
Research the market drawing on ideas form the initial brief. Break down the current pack, the brands elements and it’s environment to establish a clear focus.
Create a set of concepts from the brief for presentation utilising what exists as brand features. Create concepts that focus on varying directions to provide the client with choice.
From the chosen concepts move them on further from feedback and further concept ideas to come to a solution for the client that responds well to the brief.
Build the design into the varying product flavours and colour pallets. Create the back of pack of pack information for all lines. Artwork for roll out to production and sign off.
Finalise all artwork files and documentation. Sign off on the project deliverables and provide further support where required.
